Welcome to my own blog.... most of my life now revolves around my son Lance, so most all of my blogging happens in his blog... but I occasionally add entries when something happens sans Lance
August 30th, 2008 - Salt Marsh Honey
Mark and I got to help my dad collect his first batch of
honey from his apiary (AKA - bee hive ...AKA- Dad's big boy bug house)
today! How cool there were 30 pounds of extra honey in there.. wow
those bees are amazing! It takes 12 bees their entire lifetime to make
only one teaspoon of honey...that makes for a lot of bees!
July 29th, 2008 - Mark is going to be in a Triathlon again'
Mark has been working on getting in shape again to resume where he left off in collage.... his NCAA triathlon career was cut short only one month before the NCAA championships when he got a hernia that required surgery, and he was so discouraged by it that he gave up the sport all together until recently... I am very proud of him for reentering the sport.. as he was very good at it, and hopefully still will be
He has entered himself into the Lowell triathlon this upcoming weekend! Good luck Mark
***Update*** Mark won his division!
April 14th, 2008 - kitties kissin'

I finally got to go riding again today! Here I am at Crain's beach on Rufus with my friend Brenda
February29th, 2008 Leaping the year
Today is the 29th of February... a special day that only happens every 4 years... today is extra special because I have my son Lance here with me. Every day is special for me now that he is here. I realize that I have not really been keeping up with my own blog so much lately... but since Lance has come into my life, my life now revolves around him, and I love it that way. Even if I think I am having a bad day, all it take is one flash of his toothless grin and I am filled with happiness that I have him here with me to love and cherish.
January 20th, 2008 - today's funny
January 15th, 2008 - Spamalot!

His name is Lancelot, he like to dance a lot
January 14th, 2008 - Snow day!
The weather has been pretty wild lately! As I sit here, there is over a food of new snow outside, and I can still remember the almost 70 degree weather that we were having just last week! Crazy New England weather
I got to go out to see the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats yesterday with my friend Elisabeth.. it was a very cool performance... I just kept saying "wow" over and over.. I was very impressed!

My dog Jake has taken to sleeping in Lance's Moses Basket...

December 16th, 2007 - Snowed in
I got to use my snowblower today! Mark, Lance and I are happily snowed in and enjoying the wood stove :)

December 15th, 2007 - Saying thanks
This is a great website that the Xerox company has set up... all you have to do is go to the page and pick out a card and they will print it and ship it over to our deployed troops for free. You can add your own message and name, and you do not have to give out any email address or whatever
please tell others about this great site!
December 7th, 2007 - Where is everyone from?

October 2nd, 2007 - Squirrel obstacle course
September 29th, 2007 - 9 months

September 28th, 2007 - So, this bird walks into a store...
A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing chips from a neighborhood shop. The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn’t looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos. Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds. The seagull’s shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in Aberdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of chips. Since then, he’s become a regular. He always takes the same type of chips. Customers have begun paying for the seagull’s stolen bags of chips because they think it’s so funny
September 20th, 2007 - The Big E
Today I went to the Big E (The Eastern States Exposition) It is the biggest fair on the east cost... tons and tons to see.. not all of which I personally saw on account of my being 9 month's pregnant, But I did enjoy the petting zoo as always, sampled all kinds of yummy food, and watched a cool boarder collie demo where they showed off their herding talents with ducks that looked like running, quacking wine bottles with webbed feet!

September 14th, 2007 - The Most Bestest Daddy in the whole world
My dad, knowing my love for cotton candy, gave me my very own cotton candy making machine! There is definitely an art to making cotton candy, but I have gotten a good bit of practice this week! Here is a photo of Lance and I enjoying some cotton candy this evening :)

September 11th, 2007 - Never forget... never forgive

September 9th, 2007 - Baby shower
I had my baby shower yesterday! My son was totally spoiled with love and well wishes and beautiful gifts :) I have the best family and friends in the whole world! I put up many more photos in Lance's blog :)

September 5th, 2007 - Spankin' new cell phone
Wow... the Verizon phone insurance
company is great.. it only took 24 hours for me to get my new cell phone
delivered to my door.. impressive system
September 3rd, 2007 - one very clean cell phone
so... I have been a little more scatterbrained than usually lately... I just found my brand new fancy cell phone in the washing machine!!! now that is a good place for it!... not really... it was not even dirty yet! I am very happy that Mark was thoughtful enough to take out phone insurance.. but there is still a 50$ deductible on the thing... darnit!
September 1st, 2007 - 11 years
Today marks eleven years that Mark and I have been together... I can hardly believe it! 11 years ago Erica and I headed out to the now non-existent Bahama Beach Club in Saugus, MA, where I met Mark... my partner in crime ever since
There is a reason that I know we were fated to be together... it is that we had the opportunity to meet on the actual beach the day before... it was a crappy overcast day and Hampton Beach was practically deserted... Erica and I laid out our towels near the only volleyball net set up on the beach... turns out that Mark had been playing on the court while we were there... He noticed me and wanted to, but never got up the courage to walk over before we left... so as fate would have it... he got another chance just 24 hours later and about 40 miles south in the next state...
It was not until years later that we realized the
way it had all played out.. having had 2 opportunities to meet... (in one of
only a small handful of weekends that he had off from West Point in a
year...) I had worn an American flag bikini that day on the beach, and
Mark, being a very patriotic man, always noticed them... I was wearing the
only one on the beach that day, and he remembered it.. funny how things work
out... and crazy to think of all the things that we miss in life.. We
almost missed meeting each other... my life would be totally different
now... I am not sure what it would be like.. Mark has been such a huge part
of my life for such a long time... I can hardly remember life before him!
August 31st, 2007 - New guestbook
After receiving many requests, I have finally set up a guestbook *grins* I will see how bad it collects spam... hopefully not too bad and I will keep it :)
check it out by clicking on the button to the left :)
August 29th, 2007 - dead motherboard
I have been computer less for the last couple weeks... my new motherboard (6 months old) died on me :( but thankfully my hubby purchased it from newegg.com, and they have awesome customer service.. they emailed him a prepaid label, and as soon as they received my old one, checked it out and replaced it with a shinny new one :) Mark says that they are the best in the business for customer service and their prices are very good too. So now I am back up and running :)
August 15th, 2007 - Sunflowers at Colby Farms

Lacey, Orren, Jade, myself, Katie
and Alex at Colby Farms in Newbury today :) I have never seen so many
sunflowers in one place in my life!!
August 9th, 2007 - Bradley Palmer Park & Russell Orchards
Today I spent my day with My sister Lacey and her 2 kids, Jade and Orren :) We went to the Sprinkler park in Bradley Palmer state park and then over to Russell Orchards to see the animals, pick (and sample) some really yummy blueberries and play on the playground :)
August 7th, 2007 - My Broken friend
My friend Elisabeth has been spending the last year planning and getting ready for an awesome trip to go horseback riding across Ireland... and a week ago, she fell off her own horse and broke her wrist.... as I write this she is in the plane still going on the trip... Just with a few more accessories than originally planned!! I am sad that I am missing the trip myself on account of my pregnancy, but I would not change it for all the world... I wanted baby Lance more than anything! I did get the honor of being the first to sign her cast! Good Luck Bif! I will miss you!

August 2nd, 2007 - Cheshire Fair
Today I drove to meet my friend Kendra and go to the Cheshire Fair. We had a great time.. it was pretty hot out (high 90s), but it was worth it. We watched the 4-H cattle and sheep shows.. the kids are really impressive with their animal husbandry skills! We also visited the petting zoo and saw all kinds of animals... I got a big kick out of the reclining anteater! I always love to see Llamas :) there was a baby llama (a cria) that was just too cute!!!

July 29th, 2007 - A most excellent waste of time
![]() I had originally embedded the game into my page.. but there is not a way to shut off the annoying music... and it would play nonstop anytime someone was looking at my blog... so click the photo and it will open up a new window linked to www.dailyhaha.com where you can play this game a a bunch of other cool ones :) enjoy :) |
My best score so far...
July 29th, 2007 - Treasure hunting reborn
I know that I have talked about my treasure hunting adventures before... but I
have to say that having something new to look for opens up a whole new spin on
the fun of it all!
Mark and I used to drive right by yard sales that were really colorful... it
always meant lots of kid and baby stuff... but now that Lance is on his way...
there are some great deals to be had out there! It seems that lots
of people receive items for their baby shower and never even use them!
Baby Lance is spoiled already! I have found practically everything that I
need for the little guy at a small fraction of what it would have cost me in a
retail store! I just have to figure out now how to organize all the stuff
that he needs... and there sure is a lot of it!
July 15th, 2007 - Aloha!
I just returned from a fabulous trip to Hawaii! It was 10 days I will never forget!
July 13th, 2007 - The Beverly Hilton
On the way back, Mark and I stopped over for a night in a suite at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly hills California... WOW is that place swanky! It is where the do the golden globe awards. I felt quite a bit out of place.. epically since all my luggage refused to leave Hawaii! (it did not make the transfer.. but I have since received it all)
July 2007 - Jumping off the southern point of the US
Am I serious!? well Mark Jummped.. not me! Even if I was not carrying Lance, I would not have done it... I am a really poor swimmer. It did look like an intense rush though.. I bit too much for my tastes.
July 2007 - 11 of the world's 13 climates on one island
.jpg)
There was snow on the mountain top 4 weeks ago! When we landed in Kona, it was like we were landing on the moon! They only get 10 inches of water a year in that area, so it is considered a desert.. even in the area that the resort was in... but with all the irrigation on the resort, it sure did not look like a desert! We would drive for only 30 minutes and go from desolate looking hills to thick rain forests, to steep mountains... if we lived here we would not have to miss the changing seasons... we could just get in the car and surf and ski in the same day!
July 2007 - Waterfalls & Black Sand
We went to see everything we could without having to hike too far... normally I am up for a good long hike.. but we will save the long hikes for when we go back!
July 15th, 2007 - Volcanoes
Unfortunately for Mark, the lava stopped flowing to the surface only 2 weeks before our arrival.. I say for Mark, because it is dangerous for pregnant people to breath the gasses released by the lava... so I would have missed out either way. I really want to see the lava flow into the ocean at night.. I have seen photos and it looks like one of those visions that remains clear in your mind for the rest of your life! but we did get to see the crater.. (the 3rd photo) and the lava tube that lava used to flow through.. (the 1st photo)
I did not take this photo below...but this is what Mark was hoping to see, lava flowing into the ocean... next time ;)
July 2007 - Snorkeling in Hawaii
.jpg)
We made a few snorkeling trips while in Hawaii :) I had snorkeled in the Caribbean in the past... but now I am spoiled forever... it was so beautiful in Hawaii millions of fish everywhere you looked.. and the water was so warm and crystal clear.
We saw 5 sea turtles.. they were so calm.. they would swim right up to you... with no fear of humans... they are fiercely protected by law and no one is allowed to touch them... it was a challenge to stay away at times.. I was even bumped by one when I was not looking!
July 15th, 2007 - Kona... mmm coffee
We visited a Kona Coffee plantation and got to sample some of the best and rarest coffee in the world... wow as it good!! We learned that there is only a very thin 20 mile strip that the coffee trees can happily live.. so Kona Coffee is quite rare! I had not realized that most of what we get here on "mainland" is a 10% mix of Kona beans... so you do not really get to experience the full taste of the coffee... but at 30$ a pound even at the plantation itself, there is no wonder we don't see it here that often! We brought some home to share and savor... but I am sure that it will not last long enough!
July 7th, 2007 - The Big Island & Huge Hotel Suite!
We had a short flight to the big island of Hawaii last night and arrived at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Words can not describe this place! They have everything here! Fabulous restaurants, beautiful Gardens, waterslides, waterfalls, the biggest art collection in Hawaii, flamingoes and Dolphins! Just to get around the place they have a Tram system and a river with Disney Land boats. Because Mark does so much traveling with work, he is a member of Hilton and gets credit for the # of stays that he makes... because he has racked up so many, we were upgraded to one of the suites... I was amazed! It had more square feet then my house, 5 balconies with views in 3 directions, 2 bathrooms, original artwork on the walls... for starters... it was beautiful! I am so lucky!
.jpg)
July 6th, 2007 - Surfing Waikiki Beach and Seeing an old friend!!
Mark learned to surf on Waikiki Beach.. how cool is that! He was able to get up on his first attempt! Pretty good for someone that only watched someone else's lesson! I wished that I could try also.. but the laying on one's belly to catch the wave just was not going to work out with baby Lance in the way.. I did not mind though :) it leaves a good reason to go back to Hawaii!
and a photo of my (and Lance's!) view of the Waves!
I also had the opportunity to meet up with one of my best friends! My friend Lisa from Tennessee that I have not seen in years, was also staying in Oahu.. she was in the resort that Mark and I were suppose to stay at... but it was over booked and we were bumped a few blocks away. I only had a very short time with Lisa... as she was leaving right after I arrived... still, I always treasure even a short amount of time with my good friends! What a cool place to meet up with such a good friend! Check out the penguins behind us!
July 5th, 2007 - Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor was a sobering experience... we saw a replica of the USS Arizona along with photos and actual items that were brought up from the ship. They had one of the actual torpedoes that was dropped... it was still recognizable because it was dropped at the wrong angle and went into the sand at the bottom of the harbor... we saw a crazy photo that was taken from the air (by a Japanese plane).. and in it you can see a huge patch of frothy water next to the ships, above where the torpedo was dropped... the propeller kept going after the nose was buried in the sand...
We could not actually see the sunken ship because all the boats were already reserved for the day, but just standing there on the edge of pearl harbor was an amazing experience... after going through the museum and seeing all the photos and paintings... standing there on beautiful Hawaii, under the warm sun, feeling the trade winds blowing...I could hear nothing but the waves crashing on the shore...my heart swelled with pride as I looked up at the American flag flying in the breeze... I thought of all the lives lost and all the families left behind... I thought of my own husband and his experiences in the military... I thought of my grandfather, who was not there in Pearl Harbor, but was a Soldier's Medal recipient in WW2. I thought of how lucky I am to be an American.
July 4th, 2007 - My longest travel day ever
Mark and I left for Hawaii this morning ... 22 hours and two brief stops in Chicago and Los Angeles later we were in our hotel on Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu... and it was worth every second!
.jpg)
The view of the beach from my room and the plane :)
June 29th, 2007 - Ratatouille!

I went to see Ratatouille tonight! It was great :)
June 18th, 2007 - I can see the ground in my back yard!
Mark and I had a very productive Father's day weekend! We (mostly Mark) made a huge dent in the brush piles in the back yard that have been there since the tree came down last year.. we had intended to burn the piles, but because we live in the city, you can only burn for 2 months during the winter...and with snow on the ground the whole time and the branches frozen to the ground, we did not get them burned... Mark has been hauling (via my dad's truck) the branches and the leaves to the local place to dispose of that kind of thing... what hard work! I can see now why the guys that cut down the tree wanted more $ to clean up the mess than they did to cut it down.. they knew what they were in for... we had no idea.
I do miss the tree, but the neighbors are thrilled that they have grass growing for the first time, as do we.. sort of. The one that is healthy (the same age as the cut down one, 350ish years) is still doing great and actually keeps the house really shaded nicely!
June 11th, 2007 - I love New England!
the weather here has been near perfect :) Here are the dogs and I out for a walk in the woods. Yoshi loved running back and forth through the stream and mud!

May 31st, 2007 - It's a BOY!!!
I had my ultrasound today....Baby Lance is perfect! About 21 more weeks to go!

May 19th, 2007 - Quickening
There really is someone in there after all... last night I could feel the baby moving for the first time!
May 16th, 2007 - First Mother's Day & "Loosing" my new car already
This past weekend was my first mother's day! I loved every second of it :) thank you to all who sent me cards and gifts! I love them :)
I lost my new car within 24 hours of signing for it... well sort of.. I parked it in the lot at a wedding I was attending and at the end of the night when it was time to go home, knowing where I had parked my car, could not seem to find the Celica... it was not too long before I realized that I was no longer looking for the Celica, but a Mazda instead, that I found it right away.. I was right where I had left it... oh no...I am loosing my mind along with my figure...
May 3rd, 2007 - Saying goodbye

April 23rd, 2007 -I hate being sick
I have been battling a head cold lately... and I can't take my normal cold medicines that make me feel a little more human... which is a bit distressing but on a good(?) note.. I have been feeling wicked tired for 3 months now.. so the tiredness that comes along with having a cold is barely noticeable...
I did pick up some of the Kool-Aid lemonade that I had this weekend... and I am enjoying it fully I highly recommend to to anyone that is feeling thirsty :) and with this AWESOME weather that we are having here in New England (the best place in the whole wide world) there are probably a lot of thirsty people out there getting out finally and being active after the crappy winter/early spring we had
next weekend is the Andover carnival... I am already thinking about the caramel apple that I am going to eat.. and the cotton candy! YUM!!
April 20th, 2007 - I love Kool-Aid!
oh wow... I stopped at a lemonade stand today and had the best glass of lemonade ever! I think some of it had to do with how thrilled I have been over the recent change in weather from crappy to near perfect :) Whatever it was... I have been drinking Crystallite and Countrytime brands for years and have become accustomed to them.. but wow do I love real sugar! :) yup... I am headed out to the store in a bit to buy some of my own
April 19th, 2007 - Babymoon Planning
Mark and I are trying to decide where we should go this summer on our last vacation by ourselves (for a while at least) we are thinking maybe Hawaii? or the Caribbean? We have always gone on active trips..we are not the type to go and sit on a beach.. we like to hike, climb, raft, ride.. whatever... but in my current condition (pregnant) we are limited as to what we can do.. so I am thinking snorkeling or something like that.
April 18th, 2007 - New Computer
It has been a while since I have
updated my site, I know... I had to replace my whole computer and change my
web host to a faster one... lots of changes...I should be good for a while
now :)
April 15th, 2007 - Treasure hunting season has begun again!
Yay! I love to go treasure hunting (yard sales) on
Saturday mornings :) This year we will have a new style... with a
renewed interest in the "colorful" ones ;)
very colorful means baby/child stuff.. and up until now, we did not have
much interest/need for any of it...but now with a baby coming in 6 months..
we have a lot of supplies to collect! this is going to be fun!
March 15th, 2007 - We are PREGNANT!!!
It is official! Mark and I are Pregnant again!
I had my ultrasound 2 days ago... who knew that 9 blinking pixels could make me so happy! the doctor says that everything looks great and that the baby is strong and healthy! 140 beats per min! and about 1 1/2 cm from the top of the head to the baby's bottom :)

Friday, March 2nd, 2007 - My new Nephew!

Saturday, February 17th, 2007 - What I did for Valentine's day this year
I have just returned from a trip to Europe! My husband was sent there on business, and an *almost* free trip to England and Germany for two weeks was hard to pass up. We learned about the trip only 48 hours before we left... and at that time all I had was an expired passport, so I spent one of my precious 2 days to get ready, in line in Boston waiting for a new passport...8 hours later.. I had one and was ready to go...
We stayed in Coventry, Leicester, St Albans, Buford, London, Taunton, England, and Köln (Cologne), Germany.
It was a wonderful to finally see England and Germany, but sadly my trip was overshadowed by the loss of my beloved grandmother. She was a wonderful woman and will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Wednesday, January 4th, 2007 - First Night
I spent First night in Boston at the Cask n' Flaggen with all my best girlfriends and our men! It was a great night!
Matt saved the night when he rescued Frank from the water pitcher! (it is hard to see him... but "Frank" is the crayfish sticking out of the top of his hat in the 2nd photo below)

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006 - Christmas in Chantilly, VA
Christmas for me this year was spent in Virginia with Mark's family. I got to meet my 5 month old nephew, Austin for the first time.. he is a cutie!
Mark and I drove our car to avoid the high priced airline flights.. on the way down south we spent a night in a suite at the Waldorf Astoria.. fancy place! All that traveling that Mark did last year finally paid off a little bit with travel points!
Thursday, December 21st, 2006 - Containing the Beastie
wanderlust as my little Yosh man..| Saturday, November 18th , 2006- Happy birthday to ME! |
my happy birthday party day!!! :) I went riding on the beach this morning, then we went out to dinner at the macaroni grill, then onto the IMAX theater to see Happy Feet! what a great movie!!
I think I need a
rock hopper now!!
I have just returned from a 2 week trip to Florida with my girlies!! It was 5 years since we were all together at the same time!! It was awesome... we partied like rock stars ;) it was so good to just kick back and have some good quality time with the girlies :)
My 2 dogs, Jake and Yoshi :)
My Sister Lacey's wedding Day!!
Congrats Lacey and Bill!!!
I am in the midst of the Topsfield Fair...
I have been volunteering in the 4-H's Clover Cafe' serving hot apple pie a la mode & lobster rolls.. along with a bunch of other great stuff.. stop by if you are at the fair!
we are not serving them.. but you can also get Fried OREOS!!! wow are they good!

Thursday, October 6th, 2006 - Artist's Trading Cards
I have gotten hooked on Artist trading cards.. and have been spending the little free time that I have making them!!
it is a great creative outlet for me...it is a way that I can do an art project and actually complete it... because the cards are only the size of a standard playing cards... and I make copies of what I make and trade them away all over the world! there are tons of people that are into it... I am looking forward to my first cards...
you can see my cards that I have done so far on my Flickr page
or click the link below to learn more...
Yesterday I lost one of the best friends that I have ever had. The horse that taught me most everything I know about horses was humanly euthanized at 11 am yesterday.
His name was Last Chapter, known by those who loved him as Chap. He was a great race horse, winning over 100,000$ in his career and a proven sire of many foals.
He was a fiery chestnut with a personality to match, he had more spirit in him than any other being I have ever known.
He was a true friend, I will always miss him, and remember all the times we shared. He will always have his own special spot in my heart.
I spent my evening last night at the Topsfield fairgrounds volunteering for the 4-H, getting ready for the upcoming Fair. it feels good to be able to give a little of myself back to something that has always been so important to me :) I am actually going to be doing quite a bit of work with the 4-h in the upcoming weeks, and during the fair.. I am even going to help bake some of the pies to be served in the Clover Cafe' so for those of you that will be attending the fair this year, stop by and have some pie :) all the profits go to a great cause.. one of the best in my opinion!

5 years ago, my husband was part of
the Army's 101st... that morning I
was at work preparing a patient for
surgery when I got the news... all I
wanted to do was call my husband on
the army base and hear his voice...
and they were all locked down
without open phones... I was so
afraid for him... that army base
housed some of the army's best
weapons and I feared they would be
targeted... along with my husband...
but it didn't happen like that...
those monsters did not want to take
out our army.. they wanted to take
out our SPIRIT!!! and you know
what! they never did... it only made
us stronger! we got as many of then
as we could and made them pay.. and
the rest... there time is still
coming... there is no place in
Heaven for monsters like that... and
the alternative is quite suitable
for them!! Every day after 9/11 I would say good bye in the morning to my husband, and I didn't know when, and if he would return... it went on like that for years... to include a year of deployment to Iraq it was horrible... And the worst part of it, it was I was one of the LUCKY ONES!!! my heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones.... I can not imagine what it had been like for them THANK YOU TO ALL THE BRAVE FIGHTERS, THE MILITARY, THE POLICE, THE FIREFIGHTERS, THOSE ON THE PLANES, EVERY FRIEND, AND FAMILY MEMBER.... THANK YOU
|
Mark and his electronic menagerie are being moved into the "Man Room"... what we had previously called the wood stove room is now home to Mark's old radios, dartboard, books, and other various pointy objects...
Note: I am not good at throwing darts...
Treasure hunting today... Mark found many things that we didn't even know we needed! *note to oozing sarcasm* haha... hey, if a big free box of old power supplies makes his day... more power to him!! haha
I acquired another giraffe... the herd is getting a little out of hand... well.. at least in Mark's opinion! haha

ahhh..... it has started, the first leaves are falling...
Happy Labor Day weekend!!
Today, I feel good, happy.... moving forward... today is a good day :)
10 years have gone by since the night that I met Mark...
...while up on a bar at the now non-existent Bahama Beach Club in Saugus...haha.. (I am not sure if I should be proud of that particular fact or not... ;)
I have always thought of the last day of August as the last day of summer... good bye summer...helloooo fall!
Tomorrow is my 10 year anniversary of being with my husband Mark... holy cow... we made it ;)
PONG!!! haha.. the wonders never cease...
Fall is is approaching..
The Summer is winding down here in New England...I have chosen to throw on a light jacket when going out for the last week or so... as a child I remember this time of the year being stressful... I never wanted to go back to school... I was an outdoor kind of child... and fall meant that I had to come back inside. but now that I have grown up... this is a nice change... I am not really looking forward to winter, I am not a fan of the cold, but I do love some of the things that come along with it... I love my wood burning stove, I love the way that new fallen snow looks when it blankets the earth in white sparkles, I love hot chocolate, I love SNOW DAYS!!! (who couldn't love to use "oh, I cant come to work/school because I am snowed in at home...", I actually love to use my snow blower! haha! although the novelty usually wears off after about an hour. and my very most favorite part about winter in New England is that I am close to my family... after spending way too many years in the south, I have come to appreciate it more than ever...
anyways.. all this talk of snow, and it is still August... I guess that a part of me is secretly looking forward to winter!!!
Wedding day for my Cousin Dawn. She was beautiful. The wedding was down on the cape... that was nice because we could drive there and back in one day.
...and in light of recent events, an open bar was a welcome sight...
today I am still feeling pretty sad... hopefully things will start to look up soon

I
went out last night and enjoyed a big tall green iguana...I think it
helped...
New washer and dryer!
I am spoiled now, I have a front load washer and dryer! and they are on the 2nd floor instead of the basement!!.. not that they are actually hooked up or anything yet...but I am still pretty excited about it ;)
These are different, but similar.. both very funny... and darn
it.. I need a smile! Make sure that you have your sound on!
I now have a whole new perspective on life after recent
events It is amazing how one
life can be changed so much by something so
little...
I am looking forward to the release of Happy Feet!
I love Gill... he was the star of the recent Honda Element commercial... one
of the funniest commercials ever (for those who follow my blog... I linked
to it a while back)! He is in danger of loosing his job with Honda...
click on his picture to follow the link to sign his petition... I did ;)
My sugar maple
My tree has come down...I am very sad about it :(, but
I see now that it is down, that even had I not intervened, it was coming
down on it's own soon... it was far more sick that we had originally
thought... all the branches were hollow, or at least dead in their centers.
and the twigs can easily be snapped, something that a fresh cut branch
should not be able to do...new growth that is still green wood is normally very
pliable
I am only posing with the chainsaw for the picture....
I was not allowed to actually use it :(
Acadia National Park Acadia was beautiful! I went up with a few girlfriends
and our horses. I took a ton of photos, I just wish that they would show the
true beauty of the place... I can not wait to go back!
A new wall
I now have a *almost finished* functional retaining wall behind my house
:) yay!!!
With all the rain this spring, the old one was starting
to let go...not to mention that is was done with untreated wood and was
rotting!
Mark and I dug out the old wall on Friday.
Mark, along with 2 friends, replaced most of the wall themselves over the
weekend....
I got back tonight from the 2 day Northeast Veterinary
conference down on the Cape...basically a bunch of one hour lectures / crash
courses. It was a good time... beautiful weekend!
I am planning a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine
(on the same island as Bar Harbor)...it is suppose to be one of the most
beautiful places in the country, I can't wait. I am going with Elisabeth
and Chris, Wallace, Hank, and Cassidy...The last 3 are the horses...not sure if
they will fully appreciate the beauty of the place, but I think that they will
welcome the cooler weather. I am really hoping to be able to see a puffin while
up in Acadia...I have never seen one in real life before... only pictures :) I
just love cute things... and puffins are too cute!!!
Rocks 26,000 pounds of rocks now reside at the end of my
driveway. Mark and I are in the process of installing french drains around
the house. With all the water that ended up in our basement this spring, we
decided that something needed to be done, so alas... we have quite a bit of
digging & shoveling to do.
Mark and I enjoyed a breakfast of grilled & buttered
coffee rolls from the Shawsheen Luncheonette... if you have never been there....
you have to go... it is worth the drive to North Andover Elisabeth and I watched The sisterhood of the
traveling pants... good chick flick.. I recommend it :)...I ended up purchasing
the movie at blockbuster, it was $4.50 to rent it... and $4.99 to buy it... I,
being terrible at returning movies, decided that it was worth the 49 cents to
own the movie ;) My little
baby sister is pregnant! I am so happy for her :)
This will be her second
child. Her daughter, Jade just turned 4 :)
Sara the

Happy Birthday Jade!!! birthday party is on Saturday....
a cool image from the Tour de France
so, I guess that it was good while it lasted....
I found out last night that "Wallace" the horse that I have been riding for the
last 2 years is up for sale... and for more than I could ever afford. :( I
have been very lucky that his owner has been letting me have use of him all this
time... but, sadly, he is moving on from horses... I do not know where he will
go to, or when he will sell...but it is a sad day...
My friend Chris got engaged this weekend!!!
and got a big ring wow!
I wish her the best of luck in Love and Marriage
Happy Birthday Kendra!!!
I spent yesterday and today haying about 3 acres (made hay bales for horses)... ...and man am I tired.. that is hard work! now I know why they charge
upwards of 9$ a bale!!! this is my friend Brenda and I out in the hay wagon...
Today is Tia Shan's first birthday!!! He is at the
National Zoo on Washington DC
my little baby robins... still not flying... or making any attempts whatsoever
to feed themselves, but they enjoy their trips to the back yard Wallace (the horse) got a haircut today...actually he had his mane "roached"

so... my dog took a big hit to the face by a skunk last Tuesday...
his fur stinks a lot less now, but his breath is still very bad... he must has
inhaled a good shot of the stuff and it is still in the mucous membranes...
The baby robins...as it turns out, are starting to look a bit more
presentable... almost ready to have their picture taken... they are no longer
totally naked...
I went into Boston to see the Broadway show Rent...such a
great production... it is in it 20th year this year... wow... it makes you think about how the death-sentence of AIDS 20 years ago has
changed...people are living so much longer now... I hope that someday there will
be a cure....
ok.. so I was
at the Barn last night and up in the hay loft, there were baby barn sparrows
that had been pitched out of the nest.. and appeared to have been there
unattended for a while... they were very dehydrated and lethargic...
So...being the sap that I am, I decided that I needed to save then and I
scooped them up and brought them home...I now have baby birds that think I am
their mom... they do not have any feathers at all right now... so I suspect that
they are less than a week old... I took their picture, but they are quite
unattractive right now.. so I will wait a while to actually post a picture of
them.... today's picture is
of a baby giraffe born at a zoo in India
Happy Birthday To My Husband Mark!!!
He is 29 years old today :) So, now that the rain has stopped... it is really hot!!!
like 100 degrees out! My fish got their own water chiller unit to keep them cool.. haha they love
it ;) This is a
site that Screech from my favorite show as a teenager has set up...he is in
danger of loosing his house...so he is now selling T-shirts...
poor guy... check out his site... Today I saved a spotted
turtle from certain death in a busy intersection during lunch hour
He didn't want to show his face for the picture...
He looked like he was in good health, so
I moved
him to a nearby pond about 100 yards away

It is raining again...argh...the river in my basement didn't even have a chance
to dry up!
I have a huge tree in my back yard.. it is estimated to be at least 300 years old!!
and my poor tree is sick :( It is hollow on the inside and needs to be cut down...
hopefully they will only have to take it down to 25 feet... so that it might be
able to re-grow
...the white fence is actually the edge of my 2nd floor deck off my house...so
you can tell that it would put some serious hurt on my house if it fell! :(
Links to funny little movies...
Hopefully this was not the guy that Mark and I have hired Today I shaved my mom's dog... a one hundred pound
golden retriever with a huge coat...
